Leeds United came into Tuesday evening’s clash with West Bromwich Albion looking to bounce back from a weekend defeat.

A 1-0 win was just what Leeds needed.

Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds: “There was pressure on them tonight. They have come out and shown the fans, manager and themselves how they can bounce back, how they need to play, and the work rate that needs to be put in.

“And it isn’t easy against a very good side which are going to be up there at the end of the season.”

Leeds had named an unnamed side from the team which lost at The Valley.

Ezgjan Alioski had given Leeds a lead at the end of the first half, latching onto a pass from Jack Harrison.

This was a rarity for Leeds to score early. But it remained a nervous game with the Whites struggling to score a second goal.

Fears of a repeat of the Derby game were clear, in which the Rams netted an injury time equaliser.

This time Leeds held on to win, with the players digging in and managing to keep a clean sheet. This was the ideal way to bounce back.
