Bailey Peacock-Farrell has returned to Leeds United from a month-long loan spell at York City.
Leeds United have decided to recall Bailey Peacock-Farrell from his loan spell at York City.
Peacock-Farrell was on loan at York for the past month and, as reported by The Yorkshire Evening Post, manager Martin Gray wanted the youngster to remain.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper played all four of the Minstermen’s Vanarama National League North during his loan spell.
The youngster did well, and one can understand why Gray wanted him to remain at Bootham Crescent.
However, it was smart of Leeds head coach Thomas Christiansen and director of football Victor Orta to turn down York’s advances and bring back Peacock-Farrell.
With Andy Lonergan and Felix Wiedwald both struggling in front of goal and making costly mistakes, Christiansen will now have the option to play Peacock-Farrell if he wants to.
Of course, the 21-year-old is still very young and is quite inexperienced in terms of competitive football, but he could be well worth a gamble in the coming weeks and will at least provide Lonergan and Wiedwald with serious competitin.
Who knows, Peacock-Farrell could well turn out to be the regular first-goalkeeper who does not make mistakes that Leeds have been looking all along…
