Forest had also made a good start to the season and were expected to provide Leeds with a stiff challenge, but the Reds collapsed at home.
Kemar Roofe scored for the West Yorkshire outfit in the 24th minute, and Ezgjan Alioski made it 2-0 three minutes from full time.
The performance of Thomas Christiansen’s side against the Reds was their best so far this season, and the players worked hard.
The win against Mark Warburton’s Forest at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon means that Leeds are now third in the Championship table.
The West Yorkshire outfit have picked up 11 points from five matches and are just a point behind second-placed Ipswich.
