Leeds United’s under-23 side have lost two recent friendlies while running the rule over trialists.
The mystery surrounding Leeds United’s trialists continues, but after their latest outing it seems unlikely they have done much to impress the Whites’ academy staff.
Three trialists took to the field for the recent friendly against Burnley and several were involved in a specially arranged match against Scunthorpe United this week.
There is no confirmation how many were involved with Leeds’ academy Twitter account stating that “a number of trialists” kicked off the match, and it is fair to say they had an afternoon to forget.
Scunthorpe won 4-2, with Eoghan Stokes and Mallik Wilks scoring for Leeds’ young guns.
Those moments aside, the Whites’ next generation were brushed aside with relative ease, and if it was not for some good work from Huffer things could have been even worse.
It remains to be seen if any of the trialists on show on Tuesday afternoon will earn permanent deals at Elland Road, but with five goals conceded and no goals from the unnamed players in that time, it looks doubtful.
As for Wilks and Stokes, they continue to impress up front and in time both can hope to earn a call-up to Leeds’ first-team.
