The West Brom striker was once signed by Oxford United, after Roofe went to Leeds.
West Bromwich Albion forward Tyler Roberts reacts
Whilst Leeds United appear to be busy upsetting their fans and the entire football universe with their new club crest, they also have player recruitment to be considering.
The January transfer window is approaching its end and whilst the arrivals of Aapo Halme, Yosuke Ideguchi, Laurens De Bock and Adam Forshaw are all welcome – the fans still want to see a new striker arrive at Elland Road.
One name that has now moved to the forefront of their apparent striker pursuit is that of West Bromwich Albion striker Tyler Roberts. The Daily Mail recently reported Leeds had a £4 million move for the player rejected.

Interestingly, the 19-year-old was once signed as a replacement for a current Leeds player. In July 2016 Leeds made a move for Oxford United forward Kemar Roofe. He had been a huge hit at the Kassam Stadium, scoring 26 goals in the 48 games he played in the previous campaign. He had initially impressed during a loan spell from The Hawthorns, scoring six goals in 16 games in 2014-15.
Therefore, Oxford felt they might strike gold again at West Brom – by bringing in Roberts on loan from the Baggies in the same month Roofe headed to West Yorkshire.
However, Roberts never managed to replicate Roofe’s form. He failed to score in the league during his time with the club, scoring two goals in 22 appearances.

Leeds however will not be too fussed about his minimal impact at Oxford. The Welsh youth international is still only 19 and has proved himself a real talent at Walsall on loan this campaign – scoring five goals in 19 games for the Saddlers.
Roofe has also been in good form this season, scoring 11 goals in 28 games so far. Leeds will hope that the two West Brom graduates and former Oxford loanees end up working together at Elland Road, with high levels of success.
