Daniel Farke’s Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Lewis O’Brien from Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window.

According to The Sun, Championship club Leeds United want to sign Lewis O’Brien from Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest.

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Leeds want to secure the services of O’Brien on a season-long loan deal this summer and then make the deal permanent at the end of the campaign if they get promoted to the Premier League.

Forest, though, want to sell the midfielder and want £10 million in transfer fees for the 24-year-old, who was described by former Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Matt Glennon as ‘technically outstanding’ in The Sunday Mirror (22/08 p64).

According to The Sun, £10 million is the transfer fee that Forest paid Huddersfield Town when they signed O’Brien in the summer of 2022.

Leeds United could struggle to sign Lewis O’Brien from Nottingham Forest

In our view, Leeds United could struggle to get a deal done for Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien in the summer transfer window.

First of all, there is no incentive for Forest to send O’Brien out on loan for this season.

It would make more sense for the Reds to just sell the 24-year-old if manager Steve Cooper does not have any plans to keep him in his squad.

Secondly. O’Brien himself may not been too keen on moving to the Championship.

After all, he is at a Premier League club, and perhaps he will hope that he could eventually impress Cooper and get into the team.
