High praise for the potential Leeds United signing to live up to.
New Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen
The Whites have bid for the 26-year-old Spaniard and made an enticing wage offer, the report claims.
Saiz scored 12 goals and provided nine assists last season and is highly regarded in his homeland.
So highly in fact that he has even been compared to Lionel Messi.
Lionel Messi
Spanish journalist Edgar Navarro raved about Saiz’s abilities in 2015 shortly after he signed for Huesca and began impressing.
Writing for Sport Huesca, he commented: “With a powerful frame and a rather average height of 1’74 cm, Samu Sáiz ris reminiscent of Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney.
“Physically like Rooney and reminiscent in some movements without the ball like Leo Messi – coming down to receive, dribbling closely to opponents, initiating and finishing play with finesse – Samu Sáiz has such actions in my point of view, can be worth playing in the hole in the starting lineup.”
England’s Wayne Rooney
You can’t get better praise than being compared to Lionel Messi, although admittedly being told you resemble Wayne Rooney physically is a dubious honour.
Saiz though has made it work for him, and a transfer scramble for his signature is emerging.
Leeds signed midfield ace Mateusz Klich from FC Twente last week who is 27, and Saiz would be another well rounded addition to the club’s attack.
