The Leeds United and Nottingham Forest target has one goal in 10 games for club and country since summer speculation.

Team Talk reported back in August that Leeds United were leading the race to sign Astana marksman Junior Kabananga.
The 28-year-old – rated at around £1.5 million – bagged 14 goals from 21 games in Kazakhstan’s top-flight last season and, on the face of it, the 16-time DR Congo international seemed like he had all the ingredients needed to be a good signing.
Goals? Check. Speed? Check. International pedigree? Check.

But fast forward a couple of months and Kabananga has gone off the boil completely since being linked with Leeds.
The former Anderlecht striker, who scooped the Golden Boot at the last Africa Cup of Nations, has managed to score only one goal in his last 10 games for club and country.

It is a run of form which will have Leeds and their Championship rivals – Nottingham Forest were also reportedly interested – happy that they did not take a gamble on him.
United wound up signing the likes of Pierre-Michel Lasogga, who has three goals in four Championship starts, so it seems to have worked out well for the Whites in any case.
