Reported Leeds United target Jens Petter Hauge says he wants to join Italian side AC Milan after getting a taste of the city and their San Siro stadium, TMW report.

The Norway U21 international is gathering plenty of interest of late.

Hauge has scored or assisted around a goal a game this calendar year, and he performed to a top standard in the Europa League for Bodo/Glimt against AC Milan.

A report from Calciomercato this past week claimed Leeds front a queue to sign him.

But his performance against Milan has seemingly convinced the Italian club’s board to pursue a deal as TMW claim Paulo Maldini has opened talks with his agent.

When asked about Milan’s interest, Hauge says he would like to join the club.

“It’s a club I would like to play for. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world, I got a taste of both the city and the stadium. I have not been to Maldini’s office but I can confirm that I greeted him,” Hauge explained.

Hauge’s comments come as a blow for Leeds in their pursuit of the player.

The Whites have made a good start to their Premier League campaign, performing well at Liverpool before picking up all three points at home to fellow promoted side Fulham.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side may have targeted attacking midfielder Hauge to add more creativity to the side, while also considering long-term options at the club.

Playmaker Pablo Hernandez continues to impress at 35, but Leeds will know that he will need replacing in the near future and that may prove to be a challenge.

Hauge’s contract at Bodo/Glimt expires next year. The 20-year-old could be a potential bargain, yet it seems his heart is set on a move to the San Siro.
