Leeds United have been linked with a move for Liverpool’s Ben Woodburn. He would be a smart signing for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Ben Woodburn is a prodigiously gifted talent, and many Liverpool fans wanted to see him getting more games for Liverpool this season, but that has not been the case at all.
The Welshman has been restricted to just one League Cup appearance this season, against Leicester City, and has made a few outings for the U23 side.
He has scored for his country this season already, and the 18-year-old would benefit greatly from a short-spell away from Anfield until May.
He needs regular games under his belt which will help him mature as a player. A move to the Championship therefore makes sense as there would be more chances of him starting regularly than at a Premier League club.
Should Wolves join the race as well?
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are top of the Championship table with 51 points, and are one of the favourites to get promoted to the Premier League next season.
They do not have any major weakness, but Nuno could bolster his attacking department in the January transfer window.
Woodburn would greatly benefit from this move as he would be involved with a club that are challenging for promotion. The pressure will be different but challenging.
Furthermore, it being a loan move, there would be little risk involved in the deal. However, if Woodburn makes a strong impact, it will only help Wolves in the second half of the season, especially during the busy festive period when games come thick and fast.
The Wales international would be a smart signing for the Championship club, but they need to move quickly before Leeds or other potential suitors jump in.
