Leeds United have high hopes for Robbie Gotts, and they have set him up with a new loan move for the second half of the season.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at League One side Lincoln City, but a lack of first-team opportunities there meant he was recalled by Leeds.

Leeds sent him down another level as they allowed Gotts to join Salford City, and he played 79 minutes in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Newport County.

So how did he fare? Well, the most impressive stat from his display was that he recorded four successful dribbles, and attempted seven.

Gotts clearly has the confidence to take players on, and having also recorded two shots, two interceptions and one tackle, it was something of an all-action display.

Leeds will be pleased to see him playing, and even more encouraged by coach Warren Joyce’s comments after seeing Gotts make his debut.

Joyce told Salford’s official website that he felt Gotts was ‘bright’ throughout his performance, and was particularly impressed with his play in tight spaces.

Joyce added that Gotts was ‘always a threat’ going forward but also did his job for the team out of possession, which certainly adds up to an impressive debut.

“He was bright and found a way to get on the ball in little pockets and gave us good energy from midfield and handled the ball in tight situations,” said Joyce. “Always a threat and did a job for the team as well when Newport had the ball,” he added.
