The Whites had won just two of their previous seven games heading into tonight’s clash.
First half goals from Pontus Jansson and Jack Harrison set the Whites on their way to victory.
Former striker Noel Whelan gave his reaction to BBC Radio Leeds.
He said: “There was not much wrong this evening. It is difficult to complain, for 75 minutes we controlled the game.
“Kalvin (Phillips) keeps getting better and better.
“At the minute he’s player of the season, unsung hero. He has matured into a really fantastic defensive midfield player.”
Ezgjan Alioski played a key role, setting up both first half strikes.
Leeds suffered a late scare when Luke Ayling gave away a penalty, which Oli McBurnie converted.
The night was a miserable one for Swansea winger Dan James, who nearly signed for the Whites on transfer deadline day.
James failed to make an impact and was substituted after 67 minutes.
Leeds’ night was made even better as promotion rivals Norwich City slipped to defeat away to Preston North End.
