If Leeds beat Wolves it will be seen as an upset… that says more about Wolves rapid progress than their own.

Leeds United gave themselves a boost at the weekend by snapping a winless streak and beating Middlesbrough.
Despite this it will be a surprise if they are able to pull off a victory against Wolves in their match on Wednesday night.
This is not a reflection on Leeds, and more of a statement on the rapid progress Wolves have made this season under Nuno Santo.

When the two sides met at Molineux 13 months ago, Wolves situation was very different.
Leeds won the game 1-0 to record their fifth win in eight games, moving into 10th place. Currently they are in seventh.
Wolves’ loss meanwhile was their fourth in five games, as the Walter Zenga era moved towards an abrupt end.

The defeat left them in 18th place in the table. They would go on to finish in 15th.
That makes their early season form all the more remarkable. Wolves have won 12 of 17 games and sit in first place.
Last season there was intrigue around how Wolves would perform after their takeover, while this year there was and is a sense of expectation after impressive recruitment.
Leeds’ away win over Wolves last season almost seemed routine. This year it would be a lot more of a surprise, and that’s credit to the league leaders.
