Steven Gerrard’s Rangers had long led the betting, with the Leeds-born striker a well-known fan of the Ibrox side.

Leeds United have suddenly emerged as favourites to sign Oliver McBurnie with one bookmaker, leapfrogging Glasgow Rangers.
Rangers had long led the betting to be the Swansea City striker’s next club with Skybet, but have since drifted to 12/1 with Leeds’ odds shortening to 6/4.
McBurnie, who is from Leeds but supports Rangers, was linked with moves to both clubs earlier in the summer, having impressed during a loan spell at Barnsley last season.
The trail appeared to have gone cold in recent weeks, however, after Leeds sacked Paul Heckingbottom – the man who signed McBurnie for Barnsley – while Rangers strengthened their striking options with the signing of Umar Sadiq from Roma on Tuesday.

Leeds, though, seem to be having little luck with their pursuit of a new centre forward, with wages casting doubt over deals for Matej Vydra and Abel Hernandez, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
And it is possible the Whites could reignite their interest in McBurnie, who is 5/4 to leave and 4/7 to stay at Swansea, where he recently entered the final year of his contract.
