Leeds United striker Tyler Roberts scored his first two goals for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in midweek.
Roberts arrived at Leeds in January last year in a £4 million transfer (Daily Mail), but he missed almost the whole of the campaign after cracking his shin bone.
The 19-year-old has had to bide his time for chances, but he certainly took his opportunity in midweek.
Roberts scored twice for Leeds as they beat Preston North End 3-0, with both goals well taken.
And the youngster admits that it was nice to forget the frustration of the past since his move to Leeds.
He said: “The feeling was one of the best I’ve had. Just hearing the noise was great.
“This is the first time I’ve been through a long injury and to have it happen as soon as I joined Leeds was mentally tough. Being at games and hearing the atmosphere was hard to take. As a footballer you want to play.”
Roberts’ goals have eased concern over the impact that Patrick Bamford’s absence could have on Leeds this season.
There were fears that the youngster could struggle to lead the line, but his brace against Preston should give him a much needed confidence boost.
Leeds are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Birmingham City.
