Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has raved about Aston Villa assistant manager John Terry, having trained with him at Chelsea, as quoted on the Official Leeds United podcast.

Bamford was on the books of Chelsea from 2012 until 2017, but the 27-year-old striker spent a lot of the time out on loan.

The Englishman – who cost Leeds £7 million in transfer fee when they signed him from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018, according to Sky Sports – trained with Terry at Chelsea, and he has spoken highly of the former England international central defender.

Terry played for former Premier League and European champions Chelsea from 1998 until 2017 and is now the assistant head coach at Villa.

“Yes [Terry was at Chelsea when I was there], I have got to be honest he was really nice,” Bamford said on the Official Leeds United Podcast. as transcribed by Inside Futbol.

“He was a good captain, put a lot of time aside for the young lads, made you feel welcome and stuff. So, he is a good guy.”

How are Leeds United and Aston Villa doing?

Villa and Leeds are doing well in the Premier League at the moment. While the Villans appear to be challenging for the European places, the Whites are likely to finish in a respectable mid-table position.

The Villans are 11th in the Premier League table at the moment with 26 points from 16 matches, while Leeds are three points behind them in 12th, having played 18 games.
