The Swedish striker has had to go through the pain barrier with Leeds this season.

The striker, signed from Kalmar in the summer, told Barometern in his homeland about his injury problem that has surely caused him great discomfort.

He explained how, in the clash with Blackburn Rovers last month, he suffered a nasty fall. When he went for a diagnosis after the game it transpired he had broken ribs. Antonsson stated:

“I’ve had some minor injuries that affected but such things do not want to think about. It is new to the whole thing and just want to run on.

“But I got broken ribs against Blackburn. I landed straight down on the hip on a Blackburn player to slide tackled. It was a big bang and I lost the air.

“I went and was in pain for two weeks and when I x-rayed it turned out to be four broken ribs. I had pain and difficulty traveling at me from the couch. Clearly it was not good.”

The Swedish striker was back in action for Leeds just ten days later and has had to play through the pain for his new team.

Leeds fans are already taking a shine to Antonsson’s attitude for the club, even if not the goals are not yet flowing for the Swede.

He has played second fiddle to the in-form Chris Wood for much of the season and has therefore not had many chances to score on a regular basis.

But he did net in his last outing against Norwich City in the EFL Cup and will undoubtedly hope to get another chance at doing so when the pair meet in the Championship this weekend.
