The New Zealander is in good goalscoring form at present.

Leeds United’s Chris Wood has explained to LUTV that he was happy he could make an impact off the bench for the club in the EFL Cup last night v Blackburn Rovers.

The New Zealand international started the game from the bench, despite his good form of late. With the game at 0-0 Leeds boss Garry Monk through him into proceedings in the 71st minute.

It was a change that paid off as the big striker scrambled home from six yards to give Leeds the lead, and eventually the win, in the 85th minute.

After the game he spoke to LUTV and explained how much he was hoping to make an impact off the bench last night:

“The feeling is positive. It’s three wins on the bounce which is nice. It keeps momentum ticking over and we’re looking forward to going into the weekend.

“Every game you just want to come on and work hard.

“(You want to) show something and make something happen. Whether that’s holding the ball up, fighting for the ball or getting in the box to hopefully help out.

“You just want to come on and make an impact.”

Wood has seemingly found some form for Leeds. After being criticised by the Leeds fans earlier in the season he has now scored three goals in as many games as the club go on a three-game winning streak.

It takes his tally to six goals in ten games for the season and bodes well for the rest of the campaign.

If the Kiwi can continue at this rate then a 20-goal season is not out of reach for the 24-year-old.
