Pontus Jansson was substituted at half-time of Leeds United’s match with Bristol City after suffering an injury.

The Swedish defender was seen holding his hamstring late in the first half, and did not re-emerge after half-time.

Jansson has been outstanding since his arrival on loan from Torino, and played a key part in Leeds recording four consecutive wins in all competitions before this evening.

He was in typically imposing form early in the match at Ashton Gate, clattering into opponents and dominating against Bristol City livewire Tammy Abraham.

Leeds, in 12th place coming into this evening’s match, have an option to sign Jansson on a permanent basis once he plays 20 games for the club.

He was well on the way to meeting this milestone, but an injury would delay this, with a hamstring injury potentially keeping him out of action for several weeks.

No official comment has come from the club on the severity of Jansson’s injury, or whether his withdrawal was simply a precaution.
