Leeds United playmaker Pablo Hernandez has made a seriously big purchase this off-season… a football club.
Spanish newspaper El Mundo report Hernandez is a leading part of a consortium which have bought Spanish fourth division side Castellon.
Pablo Hernandez
Hernandez is part of the Capital Albegrino business group which have bought a majority stake in the club and now appointed a new chairman.
Castellon has existed as a club since 1922 but had been in debt prior to the takeover.
Gaizka Mendieta
They are based in Valencia, the club where Hernandez made his name. Castellon’s former famous players include Vicente del Bosque and Gaizka Mendieta.
They once again failed in their efforts to win promotion this past season, and the new investment should help their cause next time around.
Hernandez is entering his second season at Leeds United, with the club taking up an option to extend his contract last month.
