Burnley’s Andre Gray topped the Championship scoring charts last season…but Leeds United striker is on course to beat his tally already.

Andre Gray was prolific in 2015/16 as he fired Burnley to automatic promotion.

His 25 goals helped the Clarets go up as Championship champions, and made his £9 million move from Brentford look like money very well spent.

Yet with just one week gone in March, his tally from last season is already looking like being eclipsed, by Leeds United striker Chris Wood.

The New Zealand ace netted two on Friday night to give Leeds a 3-1 win over Birmingham, to make it four goals in his last four games.

He now has 22 for the season in 32 appearances, and is well on course to surpass Gray’s tally.

Wood is closely followed by Newcastle’s Dwight Gayle, who also netted at the weekend, with the duo both likely to exceed Gray’s 25 goals.

Gayle though is more certain of winning promotion, with Newcastle running away with the title and Leeds having to negotiate the play-offs.

Already Wood has beaten the figure of 21 set by Abel Hernandez last season and Ross McCormack and Jonathan Kodjia (19), with Aston Villa spending huge money on the duo as a result in the summer.
