Leeds United signing Jordan Hugill would answer questions over supposed lack of ambition

Leeds United are said to have launched an £8 million bid for Jordan Hugill of Preston North End.

According to the printed edition of the Daily Mirror (page 47, 30th January), Leeds United have made an £8 million bid for Preston North End’s Jordan Hugill and if they are able to snap up the target-man then any question marks over their ambition would be answered.

Leeds fans have been left frustrated with their business in the transfer window to date, with Andrea Radrizzani’s and Victor Orta’s signings not appeasing some of the supporters at Elland Road.

Leeds have tended to look towards the future in January, with many of their additions being made for the under-23 side.

Leeds have brought in Adam Forshaw and Laurens De Bock to improve their starting line-up, but there are still issues which exist.

Leeds had targeted a striker and a goalkeeper this month, but neither have been snapped up.

However, the arrival of Hugill in a big money deal would prove that Leeds mean business.

Hugill has scored frequently at Championship level of the past two seasons, and has drawn attention of Premier League sides.

If Leeds were prepared to invest £8 million to sign him it would be a massive signal of their intent, and he could be the man who fires them back to the top tier.
