Leeds United want a new striker in January and Tottenham Hotspur have a youngster in need of game time.

The longer West Ham United striker Ashley Fletcher remains far away from Elland Road, the more time Leeds United boss Garry Monk will be forced to spend considering potential alternatives in January.

The Sun reported almost a month ago that the promotion chasing Yorkshire giants were attempting to heave some of the goalscoring burden off top scorer Chris Wood’s shoulders with a temporary deal for the former Manchester United youngster in the New Year but, as yet, little progress appears to have been made.

Fortunately, however, Leeds may just benefit from the experience and contacts of a man who could make finding an alternative all the more easier.

According to the Daily Star, veteran scout Ian Broomfield will be bringing his vast knowledge to Elland Road in the coming days after leaving Tottenham Hotspur just before Christmas. And he could do worse than to return to his former club at the benefit of his prospective new employers.

Despite five goals in eight games for the Under-23s, teen sensation Shayon Harrison appears no closer to breaking into the Tottenham Hotspur first team. Even Vincent Janssen’s ongoing profligacy has not convinced Mauricio Pochettino to hand the 19-year-old an opportunity.

Therefore, a temporary switch to the second tier could provide Harrison, one of the most exciting prospects to rise through Spurs’ ranks in many a season, with the chance to prove that he is ready for regular first-team action.

For Leeds, fees and wages would not be an issue while Harrison’s quick feet and excellence in front of goal could ensure links with Ashley Fletcher are long since forgotten.

Pochettino confirmed in the summer, per Sky Sports, that Spurs rejected the notion of signing another striker because they believed Harrison was ready to make the grade. Via six months at Leeds, he could return to White Hart Lane with added experience under his belt.
