As good as Samu Saiz has been for Leeds United this season, the summer signing cannot be expected to go the whole campaign without a dip in form, and his performance against Norwich City on Saturday suggested the Spaniard needs a rest.

With 12 successive starts, Saiz is clearly and understandably one of the first names on the Leeds team sheet, yet there were signs against the Canaries that he is faltering, and resting him for the upcoming clash against Hull City has been made a lot easier following the emergence of Pawel Cibicki.

With the Swede able to play effectively on the left wing, Pablo Hernandez can be pushed inside in the Saiz position, allowing his countryman a well-earned breather against the Tigers.

That could then allow Saiz to get back to his best for the Boxing Day clash with Burton Albion and the matches that will follow in quick succession.

Hernandez had to watch from the bench as Cibicki again starred for Leeds, but the former Swansea City man still has a major role to play and his presence allows Whites boss Thomas Christiansen to rest Saiz without the risk of losing too much attacking quality.

If ever Leeds can risk resting Saiz it is against a Hull side at the wrong end of the table and Cibicki’s emergence and Hernandez’s versatility allows them to do just that.
