Henri Lansbury is a hugely experienced footballer at Championship level, but the former Nottingham Forest midfielder is struggling for playing time at Aston Villa at the moment – and Leeds United should take advantage of this.

Lansbury joined Villa from Championship rivals Forest in January 2017 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £2.75 million.

The 27-year-old former Arsenal midfielder has made just five starts and three substitute appearances for the Villans so far this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists in the process.

True, there have been injury issues, but even when fit, the former England Under-21 international has struggled for playing time for Villa.

Leeds should take advantage of this situation and make a move for Lansbury in the summer transfer window.

The West Yorkshire outfit need better players in the middle of the park, and the 27-year-old would be an upgrade on what they have at the moment.

If Villa get promoted to the Premier League, then they could be open to the idea of selling Lansbury.

Even if the Villans do not get out of the Championship, Lansbury could be tempted to leave Villa Park, as he is clearly way down the pecking order under manager Steve Bruce.
