Efe Ambrose has left Hibernian and is a free agent, and Leeds United should make a move for the former Celtic defender.
Ambrose exercised a clause in his contract at Hibernian that allowed him to leave the Scottish Premiership club in the January transfer window.
With the 30-year-old defender able to feature as a centre-back or as a right-back, the Nigeria international will be a smart addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds side for the second half of the season.
The Championship club have had injuries this season, with Liam Cooper, Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi having spells on the sidelines.
True, the likes of Aapo Halme and Tom Pearce have stepped up, but for Leeds to end up in the top two of the Championship this season, they need cover at the back.
Ambrose is prone to making errors, but the Nigeria international is also a very experienced defender who was a success during his time at Celtic from 2012 until 2017, winning the Scottish Premiership title four times and also playing in the Champions League.
Ambrose clearly thinks that he can do better than Hibernian, and Leeds should try to convince him to move to Elland Road on a deal until the end of the season and be part of a promotion-winning squad.
