Birmingham City goalkeeper David Stockdale has suggested on Twitter that he could leave the club in the January transfer window, and Leeds United should make a move as a replacement for Jamal Blackman, who has returned to Chelsea.
Stockdale is back at Birmingham from his short loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers, and it seems that the 33-year-old goalkeeper is unlikely to get back into Garry Monk’s first team.
Blackman, 25, suffered a broken leg last month while playing for the Leeds Under-23 side and is back at Chelsea from his loan spell at Elland Road.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell is the only senior goalkeeper on the books of Leeds at the moment, and it is clear that the Championship club need to find another established custodian for the second half of the season.
Leeds United Managing Director Angus Kinnear has already said in a recent matchday programme that the club will sign a goalkeeper (click here to read more), and it would make sense for the Whites to make a move for Stockdale.
Back in June 2018, The Yorkshire Evening Post reported of Leeds’s interest in Stockdale, but nothing materialised.
True, the former Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper is 33 years of age, but given his experienced and obvious quality, Stockdale would be a good signing for Leeds in January.
