Hull City will be managerless by the end of the month and Leeds United should pounce on their current situation by signing Jackson Irvine.
Whilst Leeds United ensured that Marcelo Bielsa will stay on at the club next season, Hull City could not do the same with their manager Nigel Adkins.
As reported by Sky Sports, Tigers boss Adkins will leave his role at the KCOM Stadium when his contract expires at the end of this month.
It now leaves the Championship side without a manager and given their current situation, Leeds United should pounce by trying to snap up one of their top talents.
There’s no doubt that their biggest asset is Jarod Bowen, but a player like Jackson Irvine would be a smart purchase by the Elland Road club and a fantastic buy.
The 26-year-old is a versatile player and his six goals from the middle of the park last season [transfermarkt] would be something that should make Leeds stand up and take notice.
From the 38 league games Irvine played during the recently concluded campaign, 13 of those matches were played in a defensive role, whilst 16 were played in a more attacking role.
Irvine has a physical presence about his game and is technically gifted on the ball. Plus, given time, he would be able to fit in with Marcelo Bielsa’s current system.
Not only that, given his versatility in playing various midfield roles, out wide and being a threat from the bench, he would offer so much to Leeds and he should be a player they should look at this summer.
Whilst all the talk will surround Hull’s main man Bowen, a player of the talent of Irvine should not be forgotten and he would be a great asset for a team chasing for promotion next term.
