According to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 63, June 18, 2017), Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing Oliver Burke from German club RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Wednesday want to sign the former Nottingham Forest winger on a loan deal for the 2017-18 season (click here to read more).

Burke joined the Bundesliga outfit from Forest in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 63, June 18, 2017) to be worth £13 million.

The 20-year-old winger may have struggled to make an impact RB Leipzig last season, but he knows the Championship well and would be a superb signing for Wednesday.

Signing the 20-year-old would make the Owls genuine contenders for automatic promotion to the Premier League, and it would make perfect sense for Championship rivals Leeds United to join the chase.

Leeds will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship next season, and recruiting a player like Burke is only going to enhance their chances of breaking into the playoffs.

The youngster’s final game for Forest was against Leeds in which he scored once to guide the Reds to a 3-1 victory in the Championship.

The 20-year-old is hugely talented and has a lot of potential, and his experience of playing in the Championship would be crucial for the West Yorkshire outfit.

Burke could be a season-defining signing for Leeds; if the Whites have the chance to secure the Scotland international winger’s services, then they should take it.
