According to The Sunday Mirror (print edition, page 68, June 3, 2018), Norwich City and Swansea City are interested in signing Danny Ward from Liverpool in the summer transfer window, and Leeds United should join the race.

Ward is a very good goalkeeper who was superb for Huddersfield Town in their promotion-winning season in the Championship in 2016-17.

With Felix Wiedwald making some high-profile mistakes and Andy Lonergan not doing well, Bailey Peacock-Farrell ended this past campaign as the first-choice Leeds goalkeeper.

Peacock-Farrell is only 21 years and has made a handful of appearances for Leeds first team, and it would be wise of the Whites to make a move for Ward this summer and reinforce the goalkeeping position.

Both Norwich and Swansea will be aiming for promotion to the Premier League next season, and if Ward is good enough for them, then the Liverpool goalkeeper is good enough for Leeds.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp rates Ward highly and told the club’s official website in January 2018 that the Wales international has “a lot of potential”.

While it is unlikely that the Reds would sell the 24-year-old this summer, they could be open to a season-long loan deal, and this would be perfect for Leeds.
