Manchester United’s Sam Johnstone would have been a better option for Leeds United than reported target and Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman.
Leeds United are interested in signing Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman, according to Sky Sports, but the Elland Road outfit’s purposes would have been better served if they had tried for Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone instead.
Blackman is a good goalkeeper, and the 24-year-old did well during his loan spell at Sheffield United from Chelsea last season.
However, Johnstone is better than Blackman, as proven by his consistent heroics for Aston Villa during the 2017-18 campaign.

The 25-year-old was arguably the best goalkeeper in the Championship last season, and his loan spell from Manchester United was a huge success, as he played a key role in Steve Bruce’s side reaching the playoff final.
According to The Daily Mail, United are willing to sell Johnstone for £5 million, and at that price, the former England Under-20 international would be a bargain signing for any club in the Championship.
The goalkeeper has matured and developed in recent years, and for £5m, Leeds would get a genuinely brilliant first-choice goalkeeper.
However, it looks like Johnstone is set for Leeds’s Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion.
According to Sky Sports, the goalkeeper is close to agreeing a £5m switch to the Baggies, who got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.
Johnstone would be a great signing for Leeds, but it seems that the West Yorkshire outfit are about to miss out on him.
