Leeds and Celtic are both claimed to be keen on Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom.
According to the Mirror, Leeds United and Celtic are both keen on Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom.
Akpom is a talented young forward, but this is one deal where Leeds should step aside and allow Celtic a free run at the striker.
This is because despite Akpom’s promise, he has already failed with three Championship clubs, and they can’t rely on him as they seek to replace Chris Wood.

Akpom had a torrid loan spell at Nottingham Forest in 2014/15, where he failed to score, following up stints at League One teams Coventry and Brentford where he also didn’t register a goal.
He spent the entire 2015/16 season at Hull City, where he netted just three goals in 36 games.
Last season he joined Brighton and Hove Albion for the second half of the campaign, and once again failed to score or make a positive impression.

Akpom, 21, is a talented player who has scored prolificly for Arsenal and England at youth level, but he has found the step up to competitive first team football tough.
Right now he is not what Leeds need; his performances in the Championship have already established that.
The Whites should let him move to Celtic where the weaker Scottish league could see Akpom enjoy more success, and restore his confidence.
If he goes on to prove Leeds wrong, its a calculation they should be prepared to live with.
