Leeds United could be on the lookout for a centre-back and West Bromwich Albion’s Kyle Bartley is well known at Elland Road.
Leeds United should consider going back for Kyle Bartley, as they search for a Pontus Jansson replacement.
Bartley spent just one season at Leeds, when he was on loan during the 2016/17 campaign.
The powerful centre-back was one of Leeds’ star performers over that season, and he remains a very popular figure at Elland Road.
In truth, Bartley has never played better football than when he was at Leeds.
The 28-year-old spent a season with Swansea City after returning from his loan spell with Leeds and has subsequently moved to West Bromwich Albion for £4 million (Express and Star).
Bartley’s displays at the Hawthorns were far from convincing last term though, and Leeds may benefit from trying to bring him back.
Jansson’s exit has left a hole in their defence which needs filling and Bartley has a lot of similar qualities.
Indeed, Jansson is a big fan of the West Brom man himself.
“He is really good for me and I think that I am good for him,” Jansson said to the Yorkshire Evening Post back in 2016.
“He’s strong and we are actually quite similar players – he is also good with the ball, he’s big but also fast. He’s a really good player.”
Bartley would be able to replace the power and passion that Leeds lost with the sale of Jansson.
And if Marcelo Bielsa does want to bring in another centre-back, as he surely will, then the West Brom man should be high up on his wishlist.
