Leeds United should consider moving for Aston Villa midfielder Henri Lansbury

Leeds United need to add steel to their midfield, and Aston Villa’s Henri Lansbury could offer them that.

According to a report in the printed edition of The Sun, on 5th November, Aston Villa are considering selling Henri Lansbury in January.

Villa are fighting against Financial Fair Play rulings, and it means that they could have to offload some of their more valuable players in January.

The claret and blues are competing for the play off places in the Championship, but will not want to lose any of their first-team regulars.

And, as a result, Lansbury could be made available by Steve Bruce’s side.

Lansbury has been injured for much of the campaign so far, and has only played four Championship matches.

Villa’s success without him has seemingly proven to Bruce that his side can cope without the former Nottingham Forest man in their starting line-up and his potentially availability should alert Leeds United.

Leeds have lacked steel in midfield recently, with Thomas Christiansen’s side folding too meekly.

Leeds have lost seven of their last eight matches, with their soft core being exposed on regular occasions.

Lansbury could help to strengthen Leeds’ midfield options, and he would also offer them a goalscoring threat.

The 27-year-old is a battle hardened campaigner at Championship level, and he has proven to be one of the stand out players in the second tier over a number of years.

And if Leeds still have some of the money they raised from Chris Wood to invest, then Lansbury should be high up on Christiansen’s side’s wish list in January.
