Benfica owned winger Salvador Agra was interested in a move to Leeds United last summer, according to his agent. But now Rangers may have the edge.

Salvador Agra had a brief spell at Real Betis
Rangers supporters may have devoted themselves to countless hours scrawling through Wikipedia in the last few days. After all, a number of the players most recently linked with a summer switch to Ibrox are far from household names.
And, like fellow Benfica attackers Dalica and Dani Candeias, Salvador Agra is largely unknown on British shores. Yet, Portuguese publication O Jogo claims that the winger may join up with compatriot Pedro Caixinha at Rangers this summer.
25-year-old Agra, a former Portugal youth international, joined league champions Benfica this week after an impressive spell at Nacional. However, it appears that he is not in the immediate first-team plans of manager Rui Vitoria and will be sent out on loan.

And Rangers, who could benefit from Agra’s renowned set-peice threat and his long-range shooting ability, are understood to be at the front of the queue. With the Daily Record reporting that Rangers will listen to offers for Barrie McKay, Martyn Waghorn and Michael O’Halloran this summer, Agra’s availability could hardly be better timed.
Though this name may ring a few bells amongst Leeds United supporters. A Bola reported last summer that Agra was on The Whites’ radar and the winger’s agent told HITC that his client would jump at the chance to join a club of Leeds’ stature.

And with a lack of creativity and cutting edge, plus an overreliance on Pablo Hernandez, costing Leeds a place in the play-offs, the club appear to be in even greater need of attacking reinforcements this summer – particularly as loanees Alfonso Pedraza and Modou Barrow have left the club following the expiry of their loan deal.

Therefore, Benfica making Agra available for loan should not pass them by. Capable of playing on the left or the right hand side, the skillful attacker would provide Leeds’ next manager with both options and cutting edge in attack.
