Leeds United and Wolves are both keen on signing Belgian defender Laurens De Bock, according to Belgian media outlet Voetbal Krant.
Leeds’ interest in De Bock was first reported last week before Wolves’ desire to sign the defender came to light.
While Wolves are the Championship leaders and are better positioned financially than Leeds, the Whites should be confident of landing the Club Brugge star.
This is because at Leeds, De Bock has a far better chance of actually playing games.
Wolves’ left-back spot is being held down by the excellent Barry Douglas.
Douglas’ form this season has been spectacular, he has played 19 games, scoring four times, and providing eight assists
De Bock would purely be a back-up at Molineux.
At Leeds United, his chances of first team football would be more competitive.
Gaetano Berardi is their first choice, but the Swiss defender has missed time due to injury and suspension, and during his absences, Leeds have struggled to find a solution.
Loanee Cameron Borthwick-Jackson might have played his last game for the club in the defeat to Newport, and a left-back should be a priority for the Whites.
De Bock could step straight in, and if Leeds make this point clear to him during negotiations, they have a strong chance of persuading him to turn down Wolves’ advances.
