Leeds United and Sheffield United fans on Twitter have provided mixed views in their reported interest in Carlise winger Liam McCarron.

The Daily Mail have claimed that Leeds, Sheffield United, Wolves and Derby County are just a number of clubs who are interested in the 18-year-old who is valued at £250,000 by his League Two club.

Leeds missed out on promotion to the Premier League during the recently concluded season, whilst their Yorkshire rivals pipped them to the automatic places.

Despite being in different leagues, it seemingly looks like they, along with other clubs are keen on the same player as they look to make their mark for next season.

Given his age and little experience, McCarron more than likely wouldn’t slot straight into the squads of the above teams as he is a player for the future.

Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds has been known to give the younger players a chance and bring them through, whilst Chris Wilder has stuck with a British core on their way to promotion.

McCarron featured heavily for his team towards the back end of the recent campaign as Carlisle missed out on a League Two play-off spot.

Nonetheless, whoever Leeds or Sheffield United sign this summer, a big season awaits them in August because the former will be aiming for promotion, whilst the latter will be hoping to maintain their status in the Premier League.
