Manchester United youngster Borthwick-Jackson endured a difficult spell at Wolves last season – and he has not started much better at Leeds United.

Leeds United fans can’t say they don’t get value for money these days. Their topsy turvy EFL Cup tie against Burnley featured two stoppage time goals, a contentious penalty decision, Chris Wood scoring against his old club and triumph in the penalty shootout.
However, an excellent night at Turf Moor was somewhat tempered by a notably poor performance by loan signing Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.
The 20-year-old, who moved to Elland Road from long-standing rivals Manchester United this summer, only made his fourth Leeds appearance against Burnley but he is unlikely to make any more on the basis of that performance.

Suddenly, Leeds fans will understand why Borthwick-Jackson was quickly brushed under the carpet during a loan spell at Championship rivals Wolves last season.
Another year, another disappointing loan spell
The talented youngster, who impressed in United’s first-team when given a chance by Louis Van Gaal, arrived at Molineux amid high expectations in the summer of 2016 – but any optimism quickly disappeared as he struggled to make the grade even at Championship level.

Borthwick-Jackson made just six league appearances and was forced to wait three months for an opportunity when Paul Lambert arrived in October of last year. Therefore, it’s fair to say he didn’t exactly make a positive first impression on Walter Zenga’s replacement.
And his shaky display at Turf Moor on Tuesday night may bring bad a few bad memories for Wolves supporters who expected far better from a player tipped for a big future in Manchester United’s first-team.
Leeds fans may be enduring the same feeling of disappointment.
