Leeds United are set to make as many as five new signings over the coming days.

Helder Costa is due to join on loan from Wolves, via The Telegraph.

Ben White and Jack Harrison are on course to sign from Brighton, and Manchester City on loan, The Yorkshire Evening Post report.

Rafa Mujica is also joining from Barcelona B, the YEP claim, and Carlisle youngster Liam McCarron is also close, the Birmingham Mail write.

This is an early statement of intent from Leeds to improve, but is it enough?

McCarron and Mujica will both join the under-23 squad, so neither will be expected to make an immediate impression in 2019/20. If they do, then it’s a bonus.

Harrison was at Leeds last season, and while he could be a better player than he was in his first year, it won’t excite fans too much.

White and Costa will both improve Leeds defensively and in attack.

This will be even better if The Guardian‘s report claiming Jack Clarke will be loaned back to Leeds is correct.

Is it enough? Probably not. Leeds still lack competition for Pablo Hernandez, who is not 34. He can’t be expected to perform miracles again.

Leeds could also do with an experienced striker, a Charlie Austin or Glenn Murray type, even though both of those are unattainable.

An experienced forward who can come off the bench and turn a game, and help out an in injury crisis could be invaluable.

There is time to address this. If Leeds can get all of these deals over the line, they have made a good start.
