Leeds United appear to be closing in on signing goalkeeper Senne Lammens after Club Brugge snapped up Stoke City stopper Josef Bursik.

Leeds have just wrapped up their second signing of the January window with Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter arriving this weekend.

Rutter joins defender Maximilian Wober at Elland Road with Leeds moving quickly to sign players for Jesse Marsch.

Leeds may not be done just yet though as Victor Orta is eyeing up another goalkeeper during this month’s transfer window.

HLN reported earlier this month that Leeds were on the verge of signing Club Brugge goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

Lammens now appears to be edging ever closer to signing for Leeds after Club Brugge snapped up another shot stopper.

Josef Bursik’s Stoke exit paves way for Senne Lammens to Leeds

Club Brugge have confirmed the arrival of Stoke City goalkeeper Josef Bursik.

New boss Scott Parker has immediately looked to use the English market and Bursik is trading Staffordshire for Belgium.

Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium now report that Bursik’s arrival will allow Lammens to leave the club.

Lammens is out of contract at the end of the season and doesn’t want to sign a new deal with Club Brugge.

Leeds are favourites to sign Lammens and Bursik’s move seemingly paves the way for a move to Elland Road.

Lammens, 20, has been coming through the Club Brugge ranks in recent years and has turned out 20 times for Club NXT – Club Brugge’s second team.

Now serving as backup to Simon Mignolet, Lammens has only played in four first-team games and seems ready to leave.

Leeds may well be in Lammens’ future, with the idea of him battling with Kristoffer Klaesson and Illan Meslier for the goalkeeping jersey moving forward.

Goalkeeper may now look like a top priority for Leeds, but this may be a case of Victor Orta succession planning in case Meslier is snapped up in the near future.
