The European Super League looks to be over before it even started.
Sunday’s announcement that 12 European clubs were coming together to start a new breakaway competition didn’t exactly go down well.
A closed-off league where the rich get richer, there’s no promotion or relegation and everyone else is left behind? Who would even want that, apart from club owners?
Fans, pundits and even players spoke out against the plans, and by Tuesday night, all six Premier League clubs involved were gone.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all leaving the plans and are now attempting to get fans back on side.
That might take a while. For the six ‘biggest’ clubs in the country to try and break away from the rest in a league so against the idea of competition is something that won’t be forgotten easily.

Leeds United had a strong stance, wearing t-shirts before Monday’s game against Liverpool which read ‘earn it’ as they suggested European football should be deserved rather than given.
The Whites took to Twitter late last night to post just five words in response to the ESL exodus, stating ‘Got there in the end!’ alongside the classic Drake meme, this time showing a love for the Premier League over the Super League.
