Leeds United were heavily linked with Sebastian Driussi and the Austin FC attacker has hinted that an offer was on the table.
The Argentinian attacker has spoken to Goal after signing a new lucrative contract with Austin earlier this week.
Fabrizio Romano claims that the new deal makes Driussi one of the highest-paid players in Major League Soccer.
Driussi has now offered a revelation, claiming that that he received a ‘very important offer’ from an unnamed club in England.
That mystery club may well be Leeds United, who were in the market for an attacker in the January window.
However, Driussi didn’t jump at the chance to move to the Premier League though and decided to stay with Austin instead.
“As you know, there was a very important offer from a club in England. But, well, my head was always in Austin,” said Driussi.

A number of English clubs may have fancied Driussi.
After all, the former River Plate talent racked up 25 goals in 38 games in 2022, shining in Major League Soccer as boss Josh Wolff called him ‘impeccable’.
Yet the clear favourite to have moved for Driussi is Leeds United – and Goal’s report indicates as much.
Back in November, Argentinian reporter Cesar Luis Merlo claimed on Twitter that Leeds were very interested in signing Driussi.
Other clubs were thought to be keen but Merlo indicated that Leeds were the favourites for his signature.
Leeds ended up signing a different striker in January as Georginio Rutter arrived from Hoffenheim.
Yet with Driussi making these claims about an offer, Leeds may well have explored a move for the Argentinian before securing Rutter.
The 27-year-old chose to stay in the United States and with Rutter on board, it’s unlikely that Leeds will go back in for Driussi any time soon.
