Leeds United’s request was refused.

Leeds United have confirmed they made a special request to hold talks with the FA which was rejected.
This came as part of the disciplinary process into Patrick Bamford’s charge.
Bamford was banned for two games for play acting which got Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi sent off.
Leeds felt the extraordinary circumstances in the game should have been a mitigating factor in Bamford’s moment of poor judgement.
Leeds wanted a ‘sensible discussion’ with the authorities. Their request was denied.

The Whites’ official statement read: “The club felt that given the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the extraordinary act of sportsmanship which saw our head coach Marcelo Bielsa demand our team to allow Aston Villa to score an uncontested equaliser, we could have a sensible discussion around the sanction.
“We acknowledge that the FA panel did not feel that to be reasonable and the club therefore joins Patrick in accepting the two-match ban.”
Leeds have one game of the regular season remaining before the play-offs.
Their play-off opponents will be determined this weekend. Derby County currently occupy the spot, but could still lose out to Middlesbrough or Bristol City.
