Leeds United and Everton are interested in signing Sergio Romero from Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to ESPN.

It has been reported that Leeds are preparing themselves for their first season back in the Premier League after 16 years, while Everton want competition for Jordan Pickford.

Manchester United spell

Romero has been on the books of United since 2015 when he joined the Premier League giants on a free transfer.

Louis van Gaal was in charge of the Red Devils at the time, and the Dutchman described the 33-year-old Argentina international as “very talented goalkeeper” in The Guardian in July 2015.

Although the former Sampdoria star has failed to displace David de Gea as the first-choice goalkeeper at United, according to ESPN, he has kept 38 clean sheets in 59 matches for the Red Devils.

Unlikely Leeds United or Everton transfer?

With De Gea making mistakes in recent times, United may not want to sell Romero this summer and will want the Argentine to stay and push the Spain international goalkeeper next season.

The Red Devils do not have to sell any of their players, especially if they qualify for the Champions League next season.
