Leeds United are interested in signing Robert Dickie from Oxford United in the summer transfer window, according to The Sunday Mirror (print edition, page 65, August 9, 2020).

Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham are also reported to want the 24-year-old central defender.

The report has added that the former England Under-19 international is valued at £3 million.

Stats

Dickie has been on the books of Oxford since 2018 and has established himself as an important player in the team.

According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old made 37 appearances in League One for the Us this past season.

The defender also played five times in the FA Cup and four times in the EFL Cup for Oxford in 2019-20, according to WhoScored.

Highly rated

Dickie is one of the best defenders in the lower leagues in England, and is rated very highly.

In a feature in The Mirror in November 2019, it was noted that the Englishman could be the next Harry Maguire, with the Manchester United central defender having come through the division to now star for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

The feature also noted that Dickie has a powerful physique and is very comfortable on the ball, attributes which would make him a good signing for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds.
