Long-serving Swiss international Reto Ziegler could return to England after a decade away with Leeds United interested.

If Leeds United really want to reinforce their backline with Reto Ziegler this summer, now may be the time to move.
Swiss outlet RTS reported at the start of this month that the former Tottenham Hotspur and Wigan Athletic defender had emerged as a target for a Leeds side needing to reinforce their backline thanks to the departures of two key players.
Ziegler, a versatile player capable of playing at left-back or centre-half, could add valuable cover to Thomas Christiansen’s squad following the exits of Charlie Taylor and Kyle Bartley.

The 31-year-old is currently a free-agent after Swiss side FC Sion chose not to extend his contract at the end of last season. However, recent reports suggested that Leeds’ hopes may be dashed with Sion considering offering Ziegler a new deal after allowing him to train with the club and build up fitness.
However, Blick is now reporting that Sion have cooled their interest in re-signing the defender, who represented Switzerland at both the 2010 and 2014 World Cups. They are reportedly unhappy with his perceived angling of a move to Scottish champions Celtic earlier in the transfer window.

As such, this is the perfect time for Leeds to make a move as Christiansen aims to construct a squad capable of fighting for promotion this season.
Leeds have kept clean sheets in each of their last three Championship fixtures but added experience and versatility would not go amiss ahead of a gruelling campaign.
