Marcel Bielsa’s former Athletic Bilbao ace Ander Iturraspe is reportedly a target for Championship promotion-chasers Leeds United.

Leeds United are at risk of missing out on Ander Iturraspe as Deportivo Alaves hold talks with the Athletic Bilbao midfielder, as reported by El Gol Digital.
The 30-year-old has been linked with a shock switch to Elland Road over the last few weeks with AS breaking the news that Leeds were keen to sign the two-time Spain international when he becomes a free agent in the summer.
Iturraspe has fallen down the pecking order at Athletic but Marcelo Bielsa knows him well. Iturrapse starred under the Leeds head coach during his time at the San Mames between 2011 and 2013, helping the Basque giants reach the Copa del Rey and Europa League final.
Now, El Gol Digital has backed up claims that Leeds are indeed interested. But the report adds that Alaves have entered talks over a bargain deal for the deep-lying playmaker who was once likened to Spain and Real Madrid legend Xabi Alonso.

Alaves have made a habit of inspired, cut-price signings with the La Liga overachievers chasing a place in the Champions League for next season. Given that Athletic have ‘no intention’ of handing Iturraspe a new deal, he will soon be available for nothing.
But if Leeds really want him, they must act fast.
