Leeds United and Stoke City are interested in signing Angus Gunn from Southampton in the summer transfer window, according to HampshireLive.

It has been reported that Southampton are ready to offload Gunn this summer, with Premier League rivals Leeds and Championship outfit Stoke ‘keen on swooping’ for the 24-year-old goalkeeper.

Southampton spell

Gunn has been on the books of Southampton since the summer of 2018 when he joined from Premier League rivals Manchester City for an initial transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £10 million.

Mark Hughes was the manager of Southampton at the time, and he described the goalkeeper as “a player who clearly possesses a tremendous amount of potential” on the Saints’ official website in July 2018.

The former England Under-21 international earned his move to the Saints after a successful loan spell at Norwich City in 2017-18.

However, the Englishman has failed to establish himself as the first choice between the posts for the Saints.

According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old played 12 times in the Premier League in 2018-19 and 10 times in the English top flight in 2019-20.

Leeds have two senior goalkeepers in their squad – Kiko Casilla and Illan Meslier – and they could do another quality player for between the posts.
