According to The Daily Star, Leeds United are interested in signing Fabian Delph from Everton in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Leeds – who will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship – are confident of striking a deal with Everton for a transfer fee of £5 million.

The report has claimed that the Whites’ head coach, Marcelo Bielsa, has been handed ‘significant funds’ to spend this summer.

Leeds United return?

Delph, who can operate as a central midfielder or as a left-back, started his professional club football career at Leeds before moving to Aston Villa in the summer of 2009 for a transfer fee reported by Goal.com to be worth £8 million.

The England international was 19 years of age at the time, and now he is 30 years old and has had a great career so far.

Things have not worked out as expected for the former Manchester City star at Goodison Park since he moved to Everton in the summer of 2019, and a return to Leeds could be appealing.

Described as a “smart” player by City manager Pep Guardiola in FourFourTwo in December 2017, Delph is a very hard-working footballer whose ability to play at left-back will also come in handy for Leeds.
