Leeds United have a chance to re-sign Rob Green.

The attention of Leeds United fans was caught this past week when Huddersfield released Robert Green.

Leeds sold Green last summer to the Terriers and it proved a big mistake all round.

Their goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald flopped and the position was a problem nearly all season.

Green meanwhile did not get off the bench for Hudderfield and wasted a key year of his career.

So it is primed for Leeds to admit their mistake and sign Green as a free agent, for the second time.

It would be a smart move for Leeds to bring in the former England international, but it would be a move which would still raise some questions.

Late last season Leeds appeared to solve their goalkeeping dilemma as youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell emerged.

Green coming back in, as he did in 2016, could hold Peacock-Farrell back for the second tie in his career.

Leeds do need a back-up for Peacock-Farrell, but after wasting a year as a back-up at Huddersfield, would Green be prepared to do the same at Leeds?

If Leeds want to make him their number one, then it makes sense to bring him back.

As a back-up, Leeds may find it more difficult to persuade him.

But bring him back on a permanent basis, and Peacock-Farrell may not take it so well.

In the short-term Green would probably be an upgrade, and owner Andrea Radrizzani will not want to hang about after also wasting a year.

Bringing Green back is an easy quick fix, but it would depend if manager Paul Heckingbottom would agree and decides he prefers youngster Peacock-Farrell.
